Remote Evinrude Tuning: Reflash Without Shipping Your EMM
Unlock higher factory HP on your Evinrude E-TEC without boxing up the EMM. A live remote session reflashes the module right on the boat, in one appointment, usually under an hour.
Most owners assume a horsepower unlock means pulling the EMM off the engine, packing it carefully, and trusting a courier to get it there and back. There is another way. You stay at the dock, we connect to your laptop, and the EMM is reflashed live in one scheduled session.
This is the same upgrade as the mail-in route, done differently. It is the flagship option for a reason: no boxing up an expensive module, no customs paperwork, no waiting a week with the engine down. If you can get to your boat with a laptop and a working internet connection, you can have the tune done in about the time it takes to have a coffee.
Why remote exists
The EMM is the brain of your E-TEC. Owners are understandably nervous about detaching it and putting it in the post, especially across a border. Shipping introduces three things nobody wants: risk to a costly part, customs delays and questions, and downtime while the engine sits without its module. Remote tuning removes all three. The module stays bolted to the engine, powered and connected the whole time, and the boat is ready to run the moment we finish.
It also collapses the timeline. A mailed-in EMM is typically reflashed and back in the post within about three days of arriving here, and that is before transit in either direction. A remote session is a single appointment that usually takes under an hour. Same result, far less waiting.
How a live session works
You are at the boat or on the dock. We are here in Nieuwkuijk. The connection happens over the internet, and the reflash runs against your EMM in real time.
- We confirm your engine qualifies by EMM part number. Nothing is booked until this checks out.
- You install the tuning software on a Windows laptop. We send the link and the exact steps ahead of time.
- At the scheduled time you connect the diagnostic cable and the bootstrap cable between the laptop and the engine.
- We connect to your laptop and reflash the EMM live while you watch.
- The session ends, the new rated horsepower is active, and you close up and go.
It is plug and play. This is real rated power written to the module, not a cosmetic change to a display number. It is the identical unlock we perform on units that arrive by post.
What you need ready before the session
A remote session only runs if everything is in place, so we confirm each item with you before we schedule. If something is missing the session cannot run, and we would rather catch that in advance than lose your appointment slot.
- A Windows laptop with the tuning software installed (we send the link and steps beforehand).
- The diagnostic cable and the bootstrap cable.
- A working internet connection at the dock, either Wi-Fi or a phone hotspot.
- A healthy, charged battery so the EMM stays powered throughout the reflash.
- The engine accessible, so you can reach the diagnostic port comfortably.
Battery health matters most. The EMM must stay powered from start to finish, so a strong charge is not optional. A phone hotspot is fine for internet if dock Wi-Fi is weak.
Cables and pricing
You have a choice on cables. If you already own a diagnostic cable and a bootstrap cable, use them. If not, we sell the kit and ship it out to you by DHL Express before your session. All prices are fixed and shown excluding VAT.

The reflash cost is the same whether you send the unit or we do it live. The only difference is whether you need cables. If you plan to keep tuning or servicing your own engine, owning the kit is worth it.
There is also the shipping math to weigh. With mail-in you pay carriage both ways, sending the EMM in and getting it back, whereas the remote option ships nothing because the EMM stays on the boat.
Same upgrade, real horsepower
Remote and mail-in are two doors to one room. Both write genuine factory rated horsepower to the EMM. One thing to plan for: when the tune adds real horsepower, your current propeller may no longer be the right match. To get the full benefit you may need to fit a different propeller, and a dealer can help you size it.
Eligibility is always confirmed by EMM part number first. If your engine does not qualify, there is no session and no charge. That check costs you nothing and takes the guesswork out.
